WADE, I’m sorry that you and your family are suffering from the actions and decisions of our president.

Has the Bush administration kept you or your family from departing the country?

I grew up in Escanaba Michigan, my father taught me that there are good Democrats and good Republicans.

I experienced this as a young man when I traveled to Lansing Michigan with him as he represented the Mead Corporation as a lobbyist.

Some of my neighbors were Democrats and some Republicans, but regardless of their political affiliation the one common theme I got out of living and growing up in the UP was that this country doesn’t take shit from anybody.

We got sucker punched on Sept 11th, 2001, and we fought back and will continue to fight back.

I don’t like the idea that American boys and girls and our coalition forces die almost daily.

It hurts, and I reminded my family this Christmas to give thanks to those souls that allowed us to celebrate Christmas by protecting us all over the globe.

Those same soldiers give you the right to disagree with President Bush, that is the great thing about this land, this country.

You can speak up, say whatever you wish, just like me, and nobody will come in the middle of the night and take you away, never to be seen again.

That is what Saddam did, that’s what Hitler did, and it’s a common theme of dictators.

We took the fight to their front door, and we will continue to fight on foreign land as opposed to having more days like Sept 11th.

Can you imagine terrorists in any town in the UP ?

Hard to imagine that isn’t it ?

That is how different our world is now, these people want to kill all of those that oppose them.

They sacrifice their own people, women and children in the name of jihad.

When one of these suicide bombers walks in to a elementary school in Houghton and detonates will you then join the fight ?

All of our lives and the way we live are drastically different then the good old days when I lived in Escanaba, those days are long gone.

The terrorists changed that, forever.

2 years ago, I crossed the Mackinaw Bridge in the middle of the night, only had to stop and pay a toll, then drove on to meet my friends to go hunting on Drummond Island.

As I crossed the bridge I wondered when that would be a target for terrorists, when will we all have to show ID’s or have our cars searched to cross it.

Oh maybe not today, but it’s coming.

Wade, you can go on disliking the Bush Administration, or opposing it at every turn, but regardless of who our president is, or what political party controls Washington, those that choose to attack this country and kill American citizens will pay the ultimate price.

As long as this nation continues to be dependent on foreign oil, and not look to alternate fuel sources in our own back yard, like Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico, then we are going to be involved protecting those sources of oil that directly affect our way of living and daily commerce.

Tough choices for us and the future of this country.

I wish you and your family a safe New Year, but in the future please remove me from your mailing list, thank you.
