First They Came for the Jews

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

It’s not the same……. it’s worse.

I read that before, wasn’t this guy involved with the conspiracy to assassinate Hitler?

GWH… so you are saying Cheney was instrumental in per swaying MD’s and the entire operating room staff to disable you through surgery? Is that about right?

“First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.

by Rev. Martin Niemoller, 1945”

You are missing parts of poem.

One of you forgot the Catholics, the other forgot the unions….

You two should kiss and make up with a joint subscription to the Catholic Worker.

Jesus…

The original German:

Als die Nazis die Kommunisten holten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Kommunist.

Als sie die Sozialdemokraten einsperrten,
habe ich geschwiegen;
ich war ja kein Sozialdemokrat.

Als sie die Gewerkschafter holten,
habe ich nicht protestiert;
ich war ja kein Gewerkschafter.

Als sie die Juden holten,
habe ich nicht protestiert;
ich war ja kein Jude.

Als sie mich holten,
gab es keinen mehr, der protestieren konnte.

Direct Translation

When the Nazis got the communists,
I had been silent;
I was no communist.

When they locked up the Social Democrats,
I had been silent;
I was no Social Democrat.

When they got the trade unionists,
I had not protested;
I was no trade unionist.

When they got the Jews,
I had not protested;
I was no Jew.

When they got me,
there was none more, which protested.

Poetic Translation

When they came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

The New England Holocaust Memorial Variant

They came first for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time no one was left to speak up…

I like Bea Arthur’s version when she rants about Howard Stern.

Peace.

As a nontechnical person, I find the science intriquing. As one trained in the law, the political implications are terrifying.

To consolidate power, one needs both an external enemy and an internal enemy.

The external enemy supplies the catalyst to marshal the society’s resources, while the presence of an internal enemy supplies the justification for the mistreatment of those within the society.

The threat of climate change serves as the external enemy claimed to threaten us all with catastrophe, compelling transformative changes in everyone’s life at considerable sacrifice.

Deniers have become an internal enemy.

Just as Administration efforts to suppress scientists’ presentations should give one the chills, firing scientists from a state post for a scientific point of view should receive the same welcome as racial eugenics.

The tone of the discourse suggests the political risks inherent here.

GWHunta – firing scientists from a state post for a scientific point of view should receive the same welcome as racial eugenics.

Wow, you really typed that…

Truthcansuk @ 03/17/07 08:39:26

No. I didn’t.

I cut and pasted this particular piece from a thread posted on the topic of the firing of two state climate scientists, leaders in their fields, on a climate science website.

The two scientists in question were fired by their own state excecutive branches for holding opinions similar to the one I have regarding the impact of atmospheric CO2.

Many scientists in the field of climate science view the current situation regarding impending irreversable damage to the climate system as “trace gas hysteria” and they are currently pointing out the many faults within the IPCC report.

The IPCC report is regarded among many in the scientific community as a political document edited and shaped to be used as tool for the formation of energy and economic policy.

The upcoming IPCC report will be used as political fodder by politicians to fuel their energy and economic agendas.

I reposted this particular piece because of the eugenic impact (though not inherently racial) economic limitations imposed within a society from within and upon a societies from without are designed to have.

Carbon taxes and credits will have no impact on the primary anthropogenic causes of global warming, but will be most useful as tools for social and societal engineering.

Peace,

    Images are small but most likely do reveal the lowest level has a pseudoarthrosis. The images are not good enough to reveal instability. You cannot easily measure translation movement from reading off the tips of the spinous processes.

    I can give you my parameters for a solid fusion of C5-T1 but the parameters for a pseudoarthrosis are something else. The pseudoarthrosis may be stable in which case the standard parameters for a solid fusion would be appropriate but if there is motion and instability, these restrictions would have to be on a case by case basis.

    With a solid fusion of C5-T1, I have my patients restrict some of their outdoor activities. Impact sports need to be modified. If the patient was a long distance runner, I would have them consider long distance biking or swimming instead. Even though I have some patients with a three level fusion that do run distance, I am concerned about their genetic propensity for further disc injury with prolonged exposure to impact.

    Contact sports (football, boxing, lacrosse, etc..) should be eliminated. Simple pickup games of friendly basketball should be OK. Skiing should be fine as long as no unnecessary risks are taken (cliff jumps, icy steep mogul runs). Mtn biking should be OK as long as no steep, rocky descents where an endo can occur are eliminated.

    There are other considerations but I hope you get the picture.

  3. Wade Roberts says:

    “First they came …” is a famous statement and provocative poem attributed to pastor Martin Niemöller (1892–1984) about the cowardice of German intellectuals following the Nazis’ rise to power and the subsequent purging of their chosen targets, group after group. There is some disagreement over the exact wording of the quotation and when it was created; the content of the quotation may have been presented differently by Niemöller on different occasions.
